Dal

Dal is a very delicious recipe along with rice.Making a tasty and simple dal is very easy. Mainly for those beginners to learn cooking can start from this basics.Perfect recipe for kids as the dal will be very tasty but not spicy. It is prepared with toor dal and spices. The description to prepare is provided below.
Preparation time: 30 min
Servings: For 5 cups of rice



Ingredients:
Toor Dal  -4tablespoon
Green chilli -2
Tomato-2
Onion -1/2
Turmeric powder -1/4tspoon
Water Required amount -Around 3 small glasses.

For Tadka/Tempering:

Oil -1tablespoon
Red chilli-1
Mustard -1tspoon
Cumin seeds-2tspoon
Red chillis -2
Crushed garlic -4 cloves
Curry Leaves
Cumin powder -1/2tspoon
Asafoetida-1/2tspoon
Salt as per taste

Cumin powder -1tspoon [optional]
Coriander leaves/Cilantro to garnish

Method:
  1. Add Toor dal, green chilli, tomato, onion and water to pressure cooker. Cook for 5-6 whistles. When the pressure subsides, open the lid. Mash the dal using a whisk/ Wooden whisk.
  2. Take a sauce pan/cooking bowl add oil, When oil is hot add all the ingredients mentioned for tadka. Now add the Dal mixture, salt, cumin powder and bring to boil for few minutes. Garnish with chopped  coriander leaves.
  3. Dal is ready serve , hot and tasty.
