Chicken Karahi is a spicy, delicious, juicy and very impressive chicken dish which is very easy to prepare with much less effort and very simple ingredients. You can always adjust the spiciness by using less spices. Heard of Peshawari chicken karahi, its same in preparation and ingredients. Chicken Karahi makes a good combination for roti, parathas, naans and rice too. Do prepare and hope you like it.

Ingredients:
Chicken pieces -2lbs or 1 kg
Thin Sliced onions - 2 cups
Chopped tomatoes -3 cups
Cilantro/coriander leaves -1/2 cup
Slit chillies -5
Ginger paste -1tspoon
Garlic paste -2 tspoons
Pepper powder -3/4 tspoon
Red chilli powder -2 tspoons
Turmeric powder-1/4tspoon [optional]
Garam masala/Chicken masala powder -2tspoons
Salt as per taste
Water
Oil -2 tablespoons

Method:
- Keep ready all the above ingredients
- Take a pan add 1 tablespoon of oil, when it is hot add washed chicken pieces and let fry in oil for about 10 minutes and the raw smell vanishes. Can add turmeric if you want to use turmeric.
- Transfer the chicken to a bowl along with the stew if water has released while frying chicken.
- To the same pan, add a tablespoon of oil- when oil is hot add Ginger paste, Garlic paste. stir until the raw smell of ginger garlic paste goes off.
- Add onion slices and add a bit of salt to assist the fast cooking of onion. Stir to get golden color.Add some quantity of chopped coriander leaves.
- Now add fried chicken pieces, green chillies and stir for 5 minutes.
- Add red chilli powder, pepper powder, salt, chopped tomatoes, chopped coriander leaves and garam masala/Chicken masala powder.
- Mix well for 3 min, add 2 cups of water
- Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Chicken karahi ready to serve.
- You can prepare chicken karahi gravy or dry. To get dry chicken karahi, evaporate the water.
