Majjige huli is a traditional Indian recipe. it is yogurt or curd based curry prepared with variety of vegetables (any one)- like bottle gourd , ash pumpkin, mangalore cucumber , ivy gourd. The curry is made with coconut, green chilli, coriander leaves/cilantro, onion, ginger and black pepper.
The most preferred vegetable is ash pumpkin/boodugumbala kaayi and Bottlegourd/sorekaayi. I have used Bottlegourd.
This curd/yogurt based curry is served for lunch or dinner with hot rice. I have used very less ingredients. Easy, tasty and healthy
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Serving: 2 cups for 1 cup of rice
Ingredients:
To grind:
Grated Coconut - 2 cups
Chopped Cilantro -1/2 cup
Chopped Onion -1/2 cup
Ginger- 1/2 inch
Whole Black Pepper - 10
Green chilly - 5
Coriander powder -1 tspoon
Others:
Medium size chopped Bottle gourd - 3 cups
Turmeric powder -1/2 tspoon
Oil - 1 table spoon
Cumin seeds -1/2 tspoon (optional)
Mustard seeds -1/2 tspoon (optional)
Curry leaves
Asafoetida- 1 pinch
Method:

Method:
- Peel the skin and cut the bottle gourd into small cubes
- Make the smooth paste of the ingredients mentioned to grind, you can a small quantity of water if required.
- Heat oil in cooking utensil, add mustard seeds , cumin seeds , curry leaves and asafoetida. Lower the heat.
- Add the chopped Bottle gourd, salt and Turmeric powder. Cook well
- Add the masala /smooth paste and Mix well.
- Turn off the flame.
- Let the prepared mixture cool down.
- Mix 1 cup of curd to 2 tablespoon of the curry.
- Enjoy it mixing with hot rice.
