Falafel is a popular middle eastern fast food made with chickpeas,fresh herbs, and spices that are formed into a small patties or balls.  It’s thought that falafel originated in Egypt. It has also become a popular vegan food in Egypt and throughout the Middle East. Falafel is the street food too , it is often served with sandwich or pita. Do try this mediterranian recipe.

Preparation and cooking time: 45 minutes
Servings: 3 pieces per serving

To grind:
Chickpeas- 2 cups (soak overnight in water)
Onion -1 
Garlic -5 cloves
Green chillies -3
Cilantro -1/2 cup

Dry Spices To add:
Red chilli powder -2 Tspoons
Cumin powder -1 Tspoon
Coriander powder -1 Tspoon
Baking Soda -1/4th Tspoon
Pepper Powder -1/2 Tspoon
Maida Flour - 1 tablespoon
Salt as per taste

Oil For deep Frying

  1. Soak the Chickpeas Overnight and drain the water before you grind it.
  2. Grind it and transfer to a bowl
  3. Grind the onion, garlic , cilantro and green chillies
  4. Transfer the mixture to chickpeas bowl
  5. Add all the dry spices and flour mentioned above.
  6. Mix well and make the shapes of your choice
  7. Deep fry in oil
  8. Tasty tasty Falafel is ready to Serve
