Point guard which is called as Parwal in Hindi. I dont know in other Indian languages what they call it as. This is Parwal palya or subzi and it makes a great combination with Roti, Naan, chapathi and also as side dish for rice and sambar. Lets prepare this yummy recipe today.
Cooking time : 40minutes
Servings : 1 cup for 2 rotis

Ingredients:
Point guard - 1kg
Chopped onion -1 cup
Chopped tomato -1 cup
Cilantro - for garnishing
Ginger garlic paste -1 table spoon
Oil -1 table spoon'
Salt as per taste
Red chilli powder -1 tspoon
Cumin powder - 1 tspoon
Coriander powder -1 tspoon
Garam masala/Subzi Masala -2 tspoons
Turmeric powder -1/4 tspoon
Asafoetida/Hing -1/4tspoon or pinch
Mustard seeds - Half tspoon
Cumin seeds - Half tspoon
Method:
- Peel the skin of parwal, wash it and drain it
- Chop it into thick slices, dont remove the seeds, let it be.
- Take a pan add oil, when the oil is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and Asafoetida
- Add ginger garlic paste or crushed ginger garlic and mix for 2 minutes
- Add chopped Onion and cook completely
- Add chopped point guard and add salt as per taste.
- Mix well and Close the lid and cook
- Cook for 5 minutes,
- Add Chopped tomatoes and all the dry spices.
- Close the lid and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Switch off the stove, Garnish with cilantro
- The tasty Parwal palya will be ready to serve
