Tomato Rasam /Saaru prepared in this method is the easiest and tastiest. Main ingredients are Tomato , dal and garlic. Do prepare this in just 5 to 10 minutes and you will prepare it again and again.

Servings : 4 servings
Ingredients:
Tomato - 3
Garlic -15 cloves big
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Salt as per taste
Water -5 cups
Tamarind Concentrate - 1 Tablespoon
Toor Dal -1/2 cup
Sambar powder - 2 Teaspoons
Jaggery Powder - 1Teaspoon
Chopped coriander leaves - 1 Table spoon
Ghee-1 Tablespoon
Mustard Seeds -1/4 Teaspoon
Asafoetida/Hing - 1/4tspoon
Method:
- Wash and transfer Toor dal to pressure cooker, Add water to immerse, about 2 2cups of water . Cook until 5 whistles.
- Open cooker lid when pressure subsides, Mash the dal well.
- Gently crush garlic , No need to crush too much.
- Take a cooking vessel, add 3 Cups of water. let it boil.
- Chop tomatoes finely.
- When water is boiling add chopped tomato.
- Add tamarind Concentrate.
- Add crushed Garlic, curry leaves, turmeric powder and salt.
- Add mashed dal and Mix well.
- Add sambar powder, Jaggery powder and coriander leaves.
- Tempering: when Ghee is hot, add mustard seeds, when mustard seeds crackle add hing.
- Add this tempering to Tomato rasam.
- Simple Tomato Saaru/rasam is ready to serve.
