India is very famous when it comes to the variety of food recipes not only in terms of sweets, curries, flatbreads but also in Salads. Moong dal salad which is called as Kosambari in South India is a very healthy Salad. This is a cook without fire recipe. We usually prepare this during all festivals and as a daily routine recipe too.Preparation Time: 10 min
Ingredients:(All the ingredients can be added as much as you want, you can also avoid adding any ingredient) -This is the Your Choice Salad
Moong Dal - 1 cup
Finely Chopped Cucumber - 1 cup
Finely Chopped Onion - 1/4 cup (optional)
Finely Chopped Cilantro (Coriander leaves) - For garnish
Finely Chopped Green chili - 1
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Grated Carrot -1/2 cup
Pepper powder - 1/4 Tspoon
Salt as per Taste
Tempering:
Oil -1/4 Tablespoon
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Asafoetida/Hing - Pinch
Curry Leaves - Few
Dry red chillies - 2
Method:
- Soak the Moong Dal for 4 hours and drain the water. Transfer it to a large mixing bowl.
- Transfer all other ingredients - onion, cucumber, cilantro, carrot, coconut into the mixing bowl.
- For Tempering: When the oil is hot add mustard seeds, Hing, curry leaves, dry chillies and transfer this to the Mixing bowl.
- Add pepper powder and salt.
- Mix well
- Moong Dal Salad is ready to serve.
- If you don't want to add Tempering you can Avoid it
- Mix all the ingredients well.
