Chana Dal Chutney

This Chana Dal Chutney is a creamy, spicy chutney that pairs well with South Indian food like Rice, dosa and rotis. It is made from toasted chana dal and coconut. I have not used garlic or onion in this chutney. If you want you can add by roasting it along with chana dal.

Chana dal – 1/2 cup Oil – 3 Tablespoon Asafoetida - pinch Dry Red chilli – 4 to 5 Curry leaves Small piece of tamarind Grated coconut – 1/2 cup Mustard – ½ teaspoon
Cumin – ½ teaspoon Salt as per taste

  1. Take a pan add 1 teaspoon oil and roast the chana dal. curry leaves and red chilli
  2. When chana dal turn goldish add coconut and roast.
  3. Transfer all to a blender and grind it
  4. Tempering: Add 2 teaspoons of oil, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  5. Add curry leaves
  6. Transfer this to the chana dal chutney grinded and mix well
  7. Chana dal chutney is ready to serve.
