Capsicum fritters/Bajji

Capsicum Bajji or say Capsicum fritter is a recipe very common in India. This is a very very tasty vegetarian recipe which is craved by lot of people. It is so delicious that we cant stop eating until satisfied. This is prepared by dipping  the capsicum in the batter of gram flour and garnishing with onion, carrot ,cilantro,light spices and of course salt.The complete recipe is described here. do prepare this easy recipe and enjoy as evening snacks or side dish for food.


Preparation time: 20 min
Servings: 2 capsicum fritters per person

Ingredients:
Small Capsicums: 6
Gram flour : 250 gm
Baking soda: 2 pinches
Cumin powder
Grated carrot
Chopped onion
Chopped cilantro
Red chilli powder
Salt 

Method:
  1. Prepare the batter by mixing gram flour, salt, baking soda and water. The batter should of a consistency which can make a thick layer on capsicum
  2. Wash the capsicum and wipe with tissue towel. we will be using the whole capsicum.
  3. Since there are chances of capsicum bursting while frying in oil, to avoid this make holes to the capsicum using a fork or half cut the capsicum but let the base hold the capsicum pieces together.
  4. Make a mixture of salt and cumin powder and sprinkle some into the capsicum
  5. Take a deep pan , add oil and when the oil is medium hot, Dip the capsicum into the gram flour batter and put in the oil carefully.
  6. Let it cook well. It may take around 5-6 min to cook. it will be golden colour once done.
  7. Once it is cooked well , remove from oil, drain the excess oil on a tissue towel.
  8. Places the capsicum bajji on a plate. cut into 4 pieces and fill with grated carrot. chopped onion and cilantro
  9. Sprinkle red chilli powder and salt.
  10. Capsicum bajji is ready serve along with mint /chilli/coriander chutney.
