Broccoli Palya / Side dish for Roti / ಬ್ರೊಕೊಲಿ ಪಲ್ಯ బ్రోకలీ కూర

Broccoli is a very healthy vegetable. we can cook it in many ways. But when it comes to Indian style of cooking we add some spices and make it more tasty. This is very simple way of cooking and very tasty along with roti, naan and breads.Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings : 3 cups


Ingredients:
Broccoli - 2 big crowns cut into pieces
Onion chopped -1 cup
Chopped tomato -1/2 cup
Salt as per taste
Oil -1 Tablespoon
Red chilli powder -1 teaspoon
Cumin powder -1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder -1/2 teaspoon
Subzi masala/Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder -pinch
Mustard seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida -1/8 teaspoon
Ginger garlic paste - 2 Teaspoons

Method:
  1. Wash the broccoli and cut into pieces
  2. Take a wide mouth pan , add 1 Tablespoon oil
  3. When the oil is hot , add Mustard seeds.
  4. When mustard seeds splatters add cumin seeds and asafoetida
  5. Add chopped onion an ginger garlic paste. Stir well
  6. when the onion turns golden color add broccoli
  7. Add salt and turmeric powder, let it cook
  8. When the broccoli is half cooked add red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala and mix well
  9. In 4 to 5 minutes the broccoli will be cooked well
  10. You can serve it with roti, bread and also with rice as side dish.
