SoyaChunks Balls

SoyaChunks are known for its high protein content. It is popularly called as Meal maker or vegetarian meat as the taste will be similar to meat. The soyachunks are made from soyabeans. we can prepare many dishes using soya chunks such as soya chunks curry, kurma and even add them to your pulaos, soups, stir fries.Soya chunks balls are very easy to make, healthy, nutritious, delicious and good for snacks or ofcourse anytime you wish to eat. Kids will love this dish too.
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Servings : 10 balls per serving


Ingredients:
Soyachunks - 200 gm 
Mashed potato- 1 cup
Chopped onion -1/2 cup
Chopped green chilli- 3 to 4
Garlic- 8 cloves
Ginger-2 inch
Clove-3
Garam masala-1/4 tspoon
Cinnamon-1 inch stick
Coriander leaves-1 cup
Curry leaves-2 sprigs
Grated coconut-1/2 cup
Corn four - 1/2 cup
Roasted gram-1/2 cup
Crystal Salt as per taste -2 tspoons
Oil- 400 ml for deep frying


Method:
  1. Mashed potato- take a medium sized potato , boil in water or cook in a pressure cooker. when pressure subsides, Peel the skin of potato and mash it.
  2. Wash the soyachunks , transfer to a  deep cooking bowl, add some quantity of salt. 
  3. Boil it to cook completely, the water will spill out of bowl while cooking so stir it in between or use a large deep bowl to cook them.
  4. Take out the soyachunks by pressing in hands to remove excess water. Drain the water and transfer it to a mixie/blender jar.
  5. To the same blender add garlic onion, green chillies, coriander leaves, Roasted gram, Grated coconut, Crystal salt ,Curry leaves, ginger, clove and cinnamon.
  6. Grind it to get a coarse paste. 
  7. Transfer the mixture to a plate , add mashed potato, corn flour, garam masala and blend it well.
  8. Make small limes size balls or the shape whatever you like.
  9. Deep fry the soyachunk balls. Blending the ingredients is very important so that the balls dont break after adding to the oil.
  10. Also add one ball at a time to check the temperature of oil at which the balls do not break. Medium hot will be good.
  11. After adding the balls to the hot oil , please do not touch them for 1 or 2 minutes, or else there are chances of breaking too.
  12. When the soyachunk balls turn golden  or light brown, Remove from oil and transfer it to a plate. 
  13. Enjoy the delicious Crispy and juicy soyachunk balls with Tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
