Masala Chickpeas chat

In south india there is a famous chat known as Masala puri. The taste of masala puri loved by almost all. I have already posted the recipe of masala puri. This recipe is similar to masala puri. There are some variations made to get this recipe. we felt like eating a chat and since already I had boiled chickpeas, prepared this chat and it came out very well. Hope you all like this too.

Serves -10


For masala:
Chopped Onion -1
Chopped tomatoes-1
Grated coconut -1/2 cup
Cilantro -1/4cup
Green chilli -2
Ginger -1/2 inch
Clove -2
Garam masala-1tspoon
Redchilli powder -1tspoon
Cumin powder-1 tspoon
Coriander powder-1tspoon
Chat powder -2tspoon
Panipuri masala -2tspoon
Black salt-1tspoon
Salt as per taste

To Garnish and serve:
Boiled chickpeas
Chopped onion
Chopped tomatoes
Chopped coriander leaves
Grated carrot
Lemon juice


  1. Take a pan and add 2tspoon of oil and the fry the onion, coconut, clove, cinnamon, coriander leaves, ginger, garlic. Add all these fried items, tomatoes and  water  into mixer grinder and grind it to get lightly coarse paste.
  2. Take a vessel and transfer the masala to it, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and chat powder. Make gravy consistency by addition of water. Bring to boil for 10 min.Then add black salt and switch off the flame. Check the taste to adjust the salt. Masala will be ready
  3. Take a plate or bowl, Add masala and small quantity of all garnishing items one by one and serve.
