Khara Boondi

Khara boondi can be prepared at home instead of purchasing from stores. The boondi is formed by the use of laddle with holes.It is prepared with gram flour batter, which passes through the hole laddle and deep fried.
khara boondi is more often used on bisibelebath and it enhances the taste of bisibelebath. The recipe is described below
Preparation time: 1 hr
Servings: 300gms

Gram flour-2 cup
Red chilli powder-2tspoon
Salt-as per taste
Curry leaves
roasted chana dal
Oil for Deep Frying


  1. Take Gram flour in mixing bowl, add water and make it smooth thin pourable consistency.
  2. Take oil for deep frying. Take the 'boondi making Laddle' and  pour the batter little by little so that it forms round shaped boondi in oil.cook evenly until it turns  golden brown, take them out from oil    and drain in tissue towel.Do this for the remaining batter as well.
  3. Finally deep fry peanuts, roasted gram and curry leaves until crisp.
  4. In a mixing bowl - add the prepared boondis, 1 tsp red chilli powder, curry leaves ,roasted gram.peanuts and salt ,Mix well.
  5. Store in an airtight container. Use whenever you prepare bisibelebath or as a snack
