Fresh Coconut and Roasted Gram Chutney

 

The tasty chutney is prepared with freshly grated coconut along with roasted gram. This is my homestyle chutney. This is suitable for Dosa, idli, poori, roti and chapathi too. The  quick recipe is here.

Preparation time: 3 minutes




Ingredients :

Freshly grated coconut - 1cup
Roasted gram -1/4 cup
Salt as per taste
Tamarind -1 marble size
Green chillies - 3
Cilantro -few sprigs
Mint leaves - few
Garlic -3 to 4

Tempering: (optional)
oil -2 teaspoons
Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves 
Dry chilli -2
Asfoetida - pinch

Method:

  1. Dry roast the Garlic and Mint leaves for 20 secs  on a pan
  2. Add mint leaves, garlic and all other ingredients mentioned in list to a mixie jar and grind it to coarse paste.
  3. For tempering - Take 2 teaspoons of oil in a pan, when it is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, dry red chilli a pinch of asafetida.
  4. Add the prepared tempering to the chutney.
  5. Coconut and roasted gram chutney will be ready to serve
