Sandwich (Iyengar's Bakery Style open sandwich)

Bakery style sandwich -we would have tasted varieties of sandwiches but this sandwich is prepared in a unique way, by spreading topping on one side of toasted bread and the topping is visible, so it is also known as an open sandwich.
As per my knowledge, It is a popular in bangalore in iyengar's bakery. Not claiming to  be same exact recipe but i have made a bit of variation to the recipe. It is an easy and simple snack to make as the masala topping is applied on one side of bread and toasted on a tava/pan.


Preparation time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2 slices per serving

Ingredients:
Bread- 6 slices (I used whole wheat bread)
Mustard seeds-1/4 tspoon
Cumin seeds-1/4 tspoon
Ginger garlic paste -1 tspoon
Chopped onion- 1/2 cup
Chopped Tomato- 1/2 cup
Chopped capsicum/bell pepper- 1/2 cup
Grated carrot - 1/2 cup
Chopped coriander leaves-1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder -1/4 tspoon
Red chilli powder -1/2 tspoon
Garam masala-1/4 tspoon
Cumin powder-1/4 tspoon
Chat masala powder-1/4 tspoon
Tomato ketchup 1 tspoon
Red chilli sauce 1 tspoon
Salt as per taste

Method:
Masala Topping:
  1. In a Kadai heat the oil .
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste.
  4. Add Finely chopped onion, Chopped capsicum/bell pepper, grated carrot tomato and coriander leaves.
  5. Keep the flame on low and cook for few minutes.
  6. Add turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala, cumin powder, chat masala powder and salt.
  7. Mix well and add 1 tablespoon Tomato ketchup and 1 tspoon red chilli sauce, Mix well.
  8. Masala topping is ready, keep aside.

Bread Toast:
  1. Take bread slice apply Butter on both sides and toast one side of bread on tava/pan.
  2. Spread required quantity of masala mix over toasted side of bread and toast again on the side where masala topping is not spread.
  3. Cut diagonally to get triangle shape but its optional.
  4. Enjoy the Iyengar bakery style open bread sandwich with tasty tea or coffee.
