Tomato Rasam - Tomato puree is blended with spices to get a tangy flavored tasty rasam to mix with rice or to drink it as a side dish. This is very easy and can be quickly prepared.
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Servings: 1 cup per serving
This will be sufficient for 10 to 12 servings
Ingredients:
Puree:
Roughly Chopped Tomatoes- 10
Tamarind-1 marble size
Tempering:
Coarsely crushed Garlic 10 -12 cloves
Chopped coriander leaves/cilantro-1/2 cup
Cumin seeds-1/2 tspoon
Turmeric powder-1/2 tspoon
Curry leaves- 4-5
Dry red chillies/Byadagi chillies -1
Red chilli powder -2 tspoons or as per spiciness required
Cumin powder-1 tspoon
Black pepper powder-1/4tspoon
Crystal Salt as per taste
Mustard seeds-1/2 tspoon
Oil -1tablespoon
Method:
- Take a kadai , add oil, when oil is hot add mustards seeds, cumin seeds.
- Add curry leaves and crushed garlic, byadagi chilli stir for a minute.
- Add tomato puree.
- Add other dry ingredients-red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, crystal salt.
- Add water to get desired consistency.
- Let is boil for 10minutes.
- Add coriander leaves, switch off the flame and close the lid.
- Let it stay for 2 minutes.
- Open the lid and enjoy the tasty, easy, simple and quick Rasam.
