Southekaayi Yennegai/Stuffed cucumber

Southekaayi Yennegai/Stuffed cucumber is a dish similar to Gutti Vankaaya Koora/Brinjal/Badanekaayi yennegai. It is an excellent taste gravy for roti, rice, chapathi or mudde [Ragi or jowar flour ball]. This dish is prepared using  Mini cucumbers. cucumber are cut into halves, slit and is filled with  spicy gravy masala and shallow cooked in oil. 
The Recipe is described in detail. Do prepare and enjoy an excellent tasty dish in just 30 min.

Preparation time:30 min

Mini Cucumbers- 8
Chopped Coriander leaves
Chopped Tomato-2
Dry coconut - 1/4
Onion -1/2
Garlic -6
Ginger -1/2 inch
Dry Roasted Peanuts-1/2 tablespoon
Red chilli powder-3tspoon
Jeera/cumin powder-2 tspoon
Turmeric powder-pinch
Garam masala - 2tspoon
Coriander powder/ dhaniya powder - 1 tspoon
Vegetable masala/chicken masala powder- 1tspoon
Salt as per taste
Oil 2 tablespoons

  1. Grind Onion, dry coconut, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves, salt by adding little water to make it a thick  paste.
  2. Cut the cucumbers into half and Slit the washed Cucumber from middle and fill the thick masala paste prepared.
  3. Take oil in pan, when oil is hot add the masala filled cucumber and cook for 7 to 8 mins by turning all the sides in between.
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  5. Add remaining masala paste and water, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, vegetable/ chicken masala powder and salt as per taste. Add required amount of water so that cucumber get cooked.
  6. Bring the masala to boil for few minutes. Serve hot Southekaayi yennegaayi/Stuffed cucumber with roti.
