Rajma Masala


Posting Rajma masala on request by many who follow my recipes. Rajma Masala is a side dish for roti, a very famous recipe of north India. Rajma is the red kidney beans. The gravy is prepared using cooked rajma and spices. It is a great combination for roti, chapathi , naan or kulcha. Preparing the rajma masala is easy yet simple.

Ingredients:
Boiled Rajma/Red beans -2 cups [ Dry red beans/rajma is saoked overnight and cooked along with salt and water in a cooker for 3 whistles]
Chopped Onion-1
Chopped Tomato-1
Curry leaves
Chopped Coriander leaves
Ginger garlic paste -1 tspoon
Red chilli powder -2 tspoon
Cumin Powder- 1 tspoon
Corianderpowder -1 tspoon
Garam masala or chicken masala -2 tspoon
Turmeric powder -1/4 tspoon
Curd-2 tspoon
Kasuri methi-2 tspoon
Salt-as per taste
Oil -1 tablespoon

Method:
  1. In a deep Pan take oil, when its hot add chopped onion,ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, Kasuri methi, tomato, salt and cook it by stirring in between by closing the lid.
  2. Then add red chilli powder,Cumin powder, Coriander powder, garam masala/chicken masala, coriander leaves and mix well and fry for few more minutes.Switch off the stove and add curd and mix well. Then again switch on the stove.
  3. Add a glass of water boiled Red beans along with water used to boil, mix well and cook until Rajma absorbs the spices well and for desired consistency of gravy.
  4. Enjoy the tasty Rajma masala with bread/ Roti.
