Avarekaalu Palya

Surti papdi/Hyacinth beans/Avarekaalu is very famous beans in india, which is liked by almost everyone over there. Avarekaalu is a yummy beans. In foriegn countries can get frozen ones from any Indian grocery stores.The main ingredients are avarekaalu, onion, tomato, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste and pepper powder.This recipe is really a yummy one.Prepare at home and Kids will love to eat it too.


Preparation time: 20 minutes
Servings - 5

Ingredients:
Deskinned Hyacinth beans/Avarekaalu -3 cups
Mustard seeds- 1/4tspoon
Cumin seeds -1/4tspoon
Chopped Coriander leaves -3tspoons
Chopped Tomato-2
Chopped onion-1
Finely Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Garlic Ginger paste -2tspoons
Red chilli powder-1.5 tspoon
Pepper powder-1/4tspoon 
Cumin powder-2 tspoon
Turmeric powder-pinch
Garam masala - 2tspoon
Salt as per taste
Oil-1 tablespoon

Method:
  1. Take a cooking pan, Add oil. When oil is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped onion, chopped tomato,ginger garlic paste. Mix it well for few minutes. 
  2. Add Avarekaalu, salt and water to immerse Avarekaalu. Close the lid- cook it for 10-12 minutes.
  3. When the Beans are cooked well -Add turmeric powder, grated coconut, Cumin powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder, garam  masala powder, Salt as per taste
  4. Mix well and cook for few more minutes without closing the lid so that if there is excess water to evaporate.
  5. Garnish with Coriander leaves.
  6. Avarekaalu palya will be ready to serve.
