SoyaChunks Lima Beans Biryani

Soya chunks with fresh lima beans biryani. This is prepared with soyachunks/Meal maker,Lima beans, curd , basmati rice and spices.The vegetarians too can really really enjoy this biryani. We usually go to restaurants to eat biryani, but rarely we get  soyachunk biryani in any restaurant.  We can prepare it in home in very simple way. Here in this post I am giving detailed description of the recipe. Easy, simple and fast method.

Preparation time: 50min to 1hr
Servings: 4

Frying onions:
Onion long cuts -1/2 cup
Oil -1tspoon

Biryani Masala:
Soya chunks/Meal maker - 2 cups

Fresh Lima beans -1 cup
Oil -1tablespoon
Onion finely chopped -1/2 cup
Turmeric powder -1/4tspoon
Chopped Tomato -1 Cup
Green chillies -2
Kasuri methi -1tspoon
Ginger garlic paste -2tspoons
Mint leaves/Dried Mint leaves powder -2tspoons
Coriander powder/Dhaniya powder - 1.5tspoon
Red chilli powder- 1/2 tspoon
Garam masala or Chicken masala from stores - 2-3 tspoons
Salt as per taste
Food color red -a pinch [optional]
Thick Ghee -4tspoons
Curd -1/2 cup

Boiled Rice Preparation:
Basmati Rice: 1.5 cups
Water: 3.5 cups
Clove: 2
Cinnamon -1 inch
Bay leaf - 1
Ghee/oil -1/4tspoon [Preferred ghee]
Salt -1/4tspoon

Chopped cilantro -1 tablespoon
Chopped Mint leaves -2tspoons

[Be careful while adding salt, as the salt is used while preparing rice and also preparing chicken biryani masala]

  1. Preparation of Rice: Wash the Basmati rice well and soak it in water for 15 to 25 min. Drain the water. Take a cooking bowl, Add water 3.5 cups, salt, Oil/ghee, Cloves, Bay leaf, Cinnamon. Bring the water to boil. When water is boiling add the rice and cook it just for 5 min in high flame. Remove/Drain the remaining/excess of water from Rice. Rice is ready for Biryani.
  2. Fried onions:Take 2 tspoons of oil in a Frying pan, Add  cut onion and saute it until it becomes golden to brown. Transfer it to a plate.
  3. Biryani masala: Soyachunks is taken in a cooking bowl, add salt and water. Let it cook completely. To make the cooking fast, also cook the Lima beans by adding water in a cooker for a whistle or in a cooking bowl.
  4. Take the pan used earlier, add 2-3tspoons of oil or ghee or butter,Then add all the ingredients mentioned in Birayani masala one by one except Curd and saute it well and let all the ingredients get cooked. Now add cooked soyachunks and lima beans. Mix well for 3 min .Switch off the stove. Let it become warm. Now add curd, Mix well. And again keep it on stove and cook for another 5 minutes. Biryani masala will be ready.
  5. Layering: Take a cooker/ Big vessel which can fit rice and biryani masala. Add around 20ml  of  water(adding water so that masala at the bottom should not get burnt), Add Half the quantity of   prepared Birayani masala along with soya chunks and lima beans, on this add/ layer the rice, On this add the  fried onions, Mint leaves, coriander leaves. Again add the biryani masala, Layer the  rice, mint leaves and coriander leaves. Close the cooking vessel using Aluminuim foil. Place a plate on it so that water doesn't evaporate and Biryani cooks well inside in steam. Don't cook on direct flame.
  6. So place a tava on the stove, Above this keep the vessel/ cooker of biryani. Let it cook for just 4 minutes. Switch off the stove.
  7. Now after 3-4 minutes open the Aluminium foil and Yummy Soya chunks biryani will be ready. Enjoy with Raita.
