Chicken Pulav

Chicken Pulav -a delicious, yummy, mouthwatering flavored rice with mild spices This is my mom's recipe. Very quick, Very easy, Very delicious and awesome tasting recipe. Chicken and rice is flavored together with other spices in a pressure cooker. I love this Chicken pulav along with Mint coconut chutney... Yummmyyyy...

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Chicken pieces -1/2 kg
Rice - 3 cups
Mint leaves -2-3 leaves
Coconut milk -1 cup
Water - 5 cups
Lemon juice - 1 spoon
Ghee - 4 tspoons or more
Bay leaf -2
Oil -1 tablespoon
Onion -1
Tomato - 2
Cilantro /coriander leaves -1/4cup

For masala:
Green chillies - 4-5[depending on spiciness]
Mint leaves - 1/2 cup
Ginger -1 inch
Garlic -12 cloves
Coriander leaves -1/2 cup
Cinnamon-1 inch
Clove - 3


  1. Grind the ingredients mentioned in masala with very little quantity of water.
  2. Take a medium sized pressure cooker, add oil - when oil is hot, add bay leaf, chopped onions and stir for few minutes.
  3. Add clean chicken pieces, salt and turmeric powder. Stir fry until the raw smell of chicken goes and water evaporates.
  4. Add the grinded masala, coconut milk, chopped tomato and mix well.
  5. Add rice,mint leaves, coriander leaves, ghee and water. Mix well.
  6. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles in medium flame.
  7. when pressure subsides, open the lid, add lemon juice and mix well.
  8. The hot Chicken pulav is ready to serve along with mint chutney.
