Chyote Squash/SeemebadanekaayiPalya


Chyote Squash makes a good combination for roti, naan, chapati and any Indian breads. The squash is chopped and cooked along with the spices to get very tasty subzi/palya. The description of the recipe is provided below.

Servings: 4





Ingredients:
Chopped Chyote squash- 4cups
Chopped Onion-1
Chopped Tomato-1
Curry leaves
Chopped Cilantro
Ginger garlic paste -1tspoon
Red chilli powder -2tspoon
Jeera/cumin Powder- 1tspoon
Dhaniya/Coriander powder -1tspoon
Vegetable masala powder or Garam masala -2tspoon
Turmeric powder -1/4tspoon
Salt as per taste
Oil -50ml

Method:

  1. Apply oil lightly to the palms before you start peeling or chopping it to avoid the slime of squash sticking to the palm. Peel the skin of chyote squash, and chop it.
  2. In a Pan take oil, Heat, Add chopped onion, chyote squash, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt. Saute. Close the lid and cook in simmer, until squash is cooked well.
  3. Add all the dry spice powders and mix well. cook for 3 more minutes and its done.
  4. Serve hot chyote subzi /palya.
