Ingredients:
For Saagu masala:
Grated coconut -1cup
Chopped cilantro -3tspoons
Clove -2
Cinnamon -1/4inch
Roasted chana dal/bengal gram/hurigadale/pottu kadalai/pappulu -1/2cup
Green chillies-5-6
Roasted white Sesame seeds/Til -1/4cup
Roasted Poppy seeds/gasagase -1tspoon
Water -1tablespoon
Salt as per taste
Chopped & Boiled vegetables along with stew:
carrot -1/4cup
Green beans -1/2cup
Green peas -1/2cup
Potato -1/4cup
Navilkosu/nukolu/kholrabi/turnip -1/4cup
Tempering:
Oil -3tspoons
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Bay leaf -1
Asafoetida
Chopped onion -1cup
Method:
- Grind the masala to a very fine and smooth paste.
- Keep ready the boiled vegetables along with stew.
- Add masala to the bowl of boiled vegetables.
- Place a pan, add oil, when its hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves,bay leaf asafoetida and chopped onions and let the onion cook well.
- Add this tempering masala with boiled vegetables and bring them to boil for around 6-10minutes [Can add water if required to get desired consistency and boil]. Ready to serve.
