Ingredients:
Upma Rava -1cup
Water -3 cups
Skin peeled Avarekaalu/Val beans -1 cup [soak the fresh avarekaalu in water for few hours and remove the skin]
Chopped onion -1
Chopped tomatoes-1/2
Chopped green chilli-3
Chopped coriander leaves-2tspoon
Curry leaves
Garlic 5 cloves crushed
Ginger1/4inch crushed
Chana dal-1tspoon
Mustard -1/2tspoon
Oil 1/2table spoon
Ghee - 1 or 2tspoon
Salt for taste
Pappu pudi:
Roasted Gram - 1/2 cup
Salt-1/2tspoon
Red chilli powder- 1tspoon.
Method:
- Dry roast the upma rava in a dry pan for few minutes and transfer to a bowl.
- In the same pan, add oil, when oil is hot - add mustard, chana dal and stir well , after 30 secs add curry leaves, green chilli, Onion, Avarekaalu and tomatoes.stir well.
- Add crushed garlic and ginger , required amount of salt and mix well. Now add the 2.5cups of water and bring to boil.
- Just take spoon of of this and taste for salt. If it is less add salt and if spiciness is less add red chilli powder.
- Add rava to the boiling water with other stuffs in the boil. Mix well and close the lid.
- In a slow flame, Cook for 2 min and switch of the flame. Leave it for few minutes so that upma sets properly. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Pappu pudi: Grind all the ingredients mentioned under pappu pudi in a mixer grinder.
- Serve hot upma with ghee and pappu pudi.
