Black Chana/Kadalekaalu Usli

Chana sundal or usli is a refreshing one. It is prepared with boiled black chana / kadlekaalu. It is well known recipe and very tasty one too. The kids like it very much too. It can be a ood evening snack or side dish along with lunch or dinner. The recipe is described below.

Servings: For 6




Ingredients:
Black chana-250gms [Soak overnight and boil for 2 -3 whistles with water and required amount salt]
Turmeric powder-1/4tspoon
Asafoetida -a pinch
Ginger crushed or paste- 1/4 inch
Chopped Green chilli -4
Chopped Onion-1
Coriander leaves-1tspoon
Grated coconut -1tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil -4tspoons

Method:

  1. In a kadai/pan add oil, when oil is hot add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves, asafoetida, green chilli, ginger paste, onion, grated coconut and fry for few minutes.
  2.  Add boiled Black chana and coriander leaves and mix well, stir for few minutes.
  3. The Stew [water used for boiling chana] can be used to make tasty Rasam. Check for rasam recipe in  recipes selection
