Ingredients:
Moong dal -1/2 cup
Rice - 3/4th cup
ChoppedCoriander leaves-1tspoon
Whole pepper crushed -5
Turmeric powder
Salt as per taste
Water -3 to 4 cups [As of the consistency you like for pongal]
For seasoning/Tadka:
Oil -3tspoons
Mustard -1/4tspoon
Jeera /cumin seeds -1/4tspoons
Whole Green chilli -1
Curry leaves -5
Method:
- Take a pressure cooker, add washed moong dal, rice. Add 1/4 tspoon of turmeric powder and water. Let it cook for 4 to 5 whistles. Let the pressure subside.
- Heat the oil -add the ingredients mentioned in the seasoning. Now add the cooked moong dal and rice . Add crushed pepper and salt. Mix well and switch of the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Khara pongal or moong dal pongal will be ready to serve with chutney.
